The article ” Maternal Mortality in Northeast Brazil, 2009-2019: Spatial Distribution, Trends, and Associated Factors ” was the winner of the RESS Evidencia 2024 Award, after the public voting closed on October 30th. The research was conducted by the authors: Ianne Vitória Gomes Oliveira, Thatiana Araújo Maranhão, George Jó Bezerra Sousa, Taynara Lais Silva, Maria Izabel Félix Rocha, Maria Madalena Cardoso da Frota, Thalis Kennedy Azevedo de Araujo, and Maria Lúcia Duarte Pereira.
The study analyzes the spatiotemporal pattern and factors associated with maternal mortality in Northeast Brazil, from 2009 to 2019.
The article’s first author, Taynara Lais Silva, will be responsible for receiving the award certificate during the 12th Brazilian Congress of Epidemiology (EPI) , which will take place in November 2024. The event, of great relevance to the field of epidemiology and public health, will feature the presence of several specialists and researchers in the area.
The RESS Evidencia Award is promoted by the journal Epidemiologia e Serviços de Saúde: revista do SUS (RESS) with the aim of encouraging scientific production in public health and highlighting work that contributes to the improvement of health services in Brazil.
