Oral health is extremely important for people’s overall health and well-being, whether for chewing and swallowing, or for self-esteem; it should be noted that oral health-related problems can lead to psychological harm. However, according to the results of the 2019 National Health Survey (Pesquisa Nacional de Saúde – PNS), less than 30% of elderly people had consulted a dentist in the year prior to the survey interview.
Prenatal care plays a fundamental role in promoting the health of pregnant women and their babies. Coverage of prenatal care in Brazil is almost universal, however, care for pregnant women has not yet been fully achieved. Researchers found that 4 out of 10 people with diabetes hospitalized due to COVID-19 died, and that 3 in every 20 COVID-19 deaths occurred in individuals with diabetes mellitus, highlighting the susceptibility of this population and the need to control this chronic disease.
