RESS Evidencia Award

About the award

The RESS Evidencia Award recognizes and honors the best original article published each year in the journal Epidemiologia e Serviços de Saúde (RESS).

The Award was established by Ordinance No. 25 of October 1, 2012, issued by the Secretariat of Health Surveillance of the Ministry of Health and Environment (SVSA/MS), with the following objectives:

  1. To encourage the production of technical and scientific works in the field of Health Surveillance that contribute to improving surveillance actions and services, as well as the prevention and control of diseases and conditions of Public Health interest in Brazil;
  2. To contribute to the dissemination of RESS.

All original articles published in RESS are eligible for the Award, except those authored by one or more members of the journal’s Editorial Board. Eligible articles are evaluated by the RESS Editorial Committee, which selects three finalist articles. These are presented at the Study Cycle organized by SVS, held online and with open access. The best article is chosen through an online public vote.

The results of the RESS Evidencia Award are announced on the website of Epidemiologia e Serviços de Saúde, where the authors of the finalist and winning articles receive the corresponding certificate.

The first edition of the RESS Evidencia Award was held in 2012, with the award ceremony taking place at the closing of the 12th Expoepi.2012 e sua premiação ocorreu no encerramento da 12ª Expoepi.
