According to the WHO, between 5% and 18% of childbirths are premature, this being one of the main causes of neonatal mortality, besides causing high costs for health systems. The study analyzed the trend of the event, in Brazil, from 2020 to 2021, a period that corresponded to the COVID-19 pandemic, in relation to the previous period, from 2011 to 2019.
