In 2020, Brazil accounted for some 10% of confirmed COVID-19 cases and deathsworldwide. Analysis of data on COVID-19 hospitalizations and deaths recorded in March 2020, when the first death from the disease in Brazil was recorded, showed that socioeconomic inequality influenced its distribution in the country.
Worldwide, physical violence in relationships affects one in three women in their lifetime. This study analyzed cases of violence perpetrated by intimate partners against females, reported on the Notifiable Health Conditions Information System (Sistema de Informação de Agravos de Notificação – SINAN), in Mato Grosso do Sul state, from 2009 to 2018.
Sexual initiation is a relevant component of social development in adolescence. Analysis of data from the 2015 National School Health Survey (Pesquisa Nacional de Saúde do Escolar – PeNSE), on the school population of Piauí, revealed the prevalence of the event and analyzed associated factors in that state.
In July 2022, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared monkeypox to be a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC), and recommended expanding surveillance and adopting measures to contain transmission.
